Colossians Sermon Series

Paul's letter to the Colossians contains some of the highest Christology in the New Testament, while also dealing with some of the earthiest of human issues. From the Christ poem of chapter one to parenting in chapter four, Paul pushes his central theme through the whole letter—Jesus is Lord. This all too often misunderstood phrase is packed with theological meaning and cultural implication, both for the 1st and 21st centuries. Therefore, this Fall we will work our way through the letter, striving to understand Paul's original intention and contemporary application. I encourage you to read and re-read Colossians on your own, to study it, to meditate on it, to apply it, and even to memorize it, so that Christ may be all in all your life, community and city.

Here is the recommended book list for Colossians.

  •
  • N.T. Wright, Colossians and Philemon
